WHAT IS NASH U?

Nash U is a year-long program designed to support seniors through the college application process. With intensive one-on-one advising and peer support, this is an opportunity to determine what plans are best for YOU after high school.

DURING THE PROGRAM NASHERS:

  • Get detailed guidance on each step of the college application process. They build their college list. They apply to schools, scholarships, and financial aid. And they connect with college students + professionals to learn more about how they got to where they are

  • Work with volunteers who serve as their mentor, giving individualized support throughout the college application process

Nash U is all about giving and receiving support as you go through this journey. The program builds a community of care and shared learning, from creating your college list to enrolling in your best-fit college!

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Young women and gender-expansive youth in 12th grade who have previously completed an SNLP program and who can commit to attending ALL Nash U meetings. There are no academic or skill criteria for admission into our programs.

HOW DO YOU APPLY?

The application cycle for Nash U is now closed. Our next cycle will open in Fall of 2024.

  • Nash U runs from September to May

  • During the fall, meetings happen twice a week with Saturday sessions available for additional support. During spring, meetings happen once a month.

DURING THE PROGRAM NASHERS:

  • Financial Aid Workshop for Nashers & Families

    Go more in depth with our financial aid knowledge and ask any and all questions that may be coming up with financial aid packages coming out. We are super excited to be in community with you all and go through the in's and out's of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), NYS TAP (Tuition Assistance Program), and NJ TAG (Tuition Aid Grants) and how they may show up in packages.

  • Mentors Panel

    Join for a warm space of storytelling and connection with mentors and Nashers across NYC and NWK. This event is designed to help illuminate the range of college and career journeys of people in the broader SNLP community.

  • Wellness Circle

    Wellness Circles are intimate, interactive settings for collective care within the Nash U community. Designed and led by Nash U Nashers in collaboration with SNLP staff and interns, these sessions often engage creative tools to address mental, physical, and spiritual wellness during the stressful time of college applications.

  • Day Trip to Howard University and National Museum of African American History & Culture, Washington D.C. (2022)

  • Overnight Trip to Bryn Mawr College, Rosemont College and Temple University (2018)
